  • What it does: Offers optional property tax cuts to qualified child care centers

Why it matters: Once passed, Proposition 2 will help address child care shortages and support quality care for Texas kids. By offering tax relief to qualifying child care centers, Prop. 2 will help decrease operating costs to the business which will in turn create more sustainability and lower costs for parents and caregivers.

  • What it does: Increase Texas’ homestead tax exemption and authorize other legislative actions related to property tax

Why it matters: Once passed, Proposition 4 supports strategies to lower the property tax burden on Texans, including more than doubling the homestead exemption from $40,000 to $100,000. Approving Prop. 4 will save the average Texas homeowner up to $1,200 a year in property taxes, putting more money back in Texans’ pockets.

  • What it does: Establishes the Texas University Fund and allows state funds to support research activities at state universities

Why it matters: Once passed, Proposition 5 will provide more research funding to Texas universities, including campuses from the University of North Texas System and the Texas Tech University System in North Texas. Prop. 5 will bring $20 million in new annual funding in North Texas. Each dollar spent on university research in North Texas provides a $7 economic return that benefits Texans.

  • What it does: Create the Texas Water Fund to help finance water infrastructure projects across Texas

Why it matters: Once passed, Proposition 6 will help support Texas’ water supply to sustain the wellbeing of Texans and communities into the future. Texas has an estimated $80 billion in needs in water-supply projects over the next 50 years. Our water systems are aging, and maintaining old infrastructure is critical to our continued economic development and quality of life as our population continues to grow. Prop. 6 will invest $1.5 billion as a down payment for Texas’ long-term water infrastructure needs. This is a historic investment by the state that comes at no cost to the taxpayers.

  • What it does: Create the Broadband Infrastructure Fund to expand access to high-speed broadband across Texas

Why it matters: Seven million Texans lack access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet, impacting their ability to work, receive an education, access health care and even public safety. Once passed, Proposition 8 will help close the digital divide and better connect all Texans in an increasingly online world by investing $1.5 billion in broadband infrastructure projects throughout the state to expand and improve access for all. This is a historic investment by the state that comes at no cost to the taxpayers.

  • What it does: Provide a cost-of-living adjustment to retired educators who have qualified for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas after years of serving our communities

Why it matters: Once passed, Proposition 9 will provide a vital cost-of-living adjustment for retired educators who have gone nearly two decades without a cost-of-living adjustment to help ensure they can afford a life of dignity after a career of educating Texas’ children.

  • What it does: Authorize a tax exemption for equipment or inventory held by medical and biomedical product manufacturers

Why it matters: Once passed, Proposition 10 will expand Texas’ health care network, strengthen our supply chain, decrease reliance on foreign countries, and create good jobs for Texans. Since 2020, Texas has lost more than 4,000 new biomanufacturing jobs to other states and missed out on more than$3 billion in medical manufacturing private investments because of an anti-competitive state tax on the tangible personal property of medical and biomedical manufacturers. This will help maintain Texas’ economic competitive advantage.

  • What it does: Create the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund to support the creation and improvement of state parks

Why it matters: Once passed, Proposition 14 will promote the quality and longevity of Texas’ wide open spaces. As many Texas communities continue to rapidly grow and develop, it is essential that Texans invest in preserving access to our public land for future generations to enjoy the Texas outdoors. Public land is good for Texans, and it’s good for business: every dollar spent on parks can generate between $4 and $12 in economic return. This $1 billion fund is a historic investment by the state that comes at no cost to the taxpayers.
